Flew from Leeds Bradford and eventually got to the venue at 9pm and went out for a nice Chinese Meal.

Saturday 6th March 2010, Players Championship - Germany

I met up with the "Ladders Overseas fan-club" who had matching shirts on with those words written across them! Great guys who are all in the forces doing a great job!

I had the unfortunate draw of Justin Pipe in a preliminary game. It is unfortunate because of Justins shear great ability to play the game. There were much easier draws but I still quite fancied my chances.

Justin won the bull and had a great first leg and I hit back straight away with a 13 dart leg. The standard of this game was very high and Justin won 6-1 with me only having 2 shots at the bull during the game for 2 of the legs. One game in particular with me sitting on 170 after 9 darts and seeing Justin finish in 12 darts was a good example of how the match was going!

Justin said after the game that he felt the match was more like a 6-5 than a 6-1 result which shows I was pushing him but obviously not hard enough!

The event was won by Vincent Van Der Voort who beat Wayne Jones in the final.

Sunday 7th March 2010, Players Championship - Germany.

Again I was drawn in a preliminary match but this time against Dennis Smith. Dennis has a similar precise action to Justin and was also similar in standard!

Dennis won the bull and took the first leg in 14 darts and I responded by setting off with 180,134 in the second leg and was feeling comfortable sitting on 86 with Dennis on 256 but a maximum from Dennis altered this and with 2 darts missed at double 16 up stepped Dennis with 20,16 and tops for 2-0!

The game followed this plan until I was 4-0 down! I had not thrown badly at all so needed to keep pushing to take something from the match! I won the next leg but alas, this was the last one I won as Dennis wrapped up the match 6-1!

Games usually have a point where they are changed and this game was done in the 2nd leg. I must get better at punishing this and getting over it when its happened to me!

The event was won by Adrian Lewis who beat Mark Walsh in the final.

Positives from the weekend

Very hard looking for positives when you have been beaten both days very early on but........I felt my form was definately there from last week but unable to get into the full flow of things with 2 hard games!

Quotes going forward

"My form is there so keep with positive attitude and push into next weeks players champs and UK open Qualifier in Wigan"

"I will not dwell on a loss but will dwell on my performance"

Myself and Darren Johnson flew from Stanstead to Munich and drove to Satzburg. The car sat nav was a nightmare so I had to call home and get Lisa to find the directions on the internet and text them through to us. This was spot on and we arrived at the hotel/venue at around midnight.

Saturday 4th September – Austria Players Championship.

I lost in the first round to Dyson Parody of Gibraltar. I took the first leg in 13 darts and watched Dyson get into gear and throw superbly for the next 6 legs (4 of them sitting on doubles after 12 darts).

I did not necessarily do anything wrong so I had no reason to be down-beat about my performance.

Darren lost to Roland Scholton in the first round 6-4 and the best performer for our bunch was Chris Thompson who lost in the last 16 after beating Robert Thornton and Jelle Klassen.

On the evening we went for a meal in a restaurant across the road from the venue. 5 meals ordered, nobody ate what they ordered because of language mix-ups.

We then had some light refreshments at the sports bar and went back to our hotel.

Sunday 5th September – Austria Players Championship.

I had drawn Erwin Remkena in the first round and knew little of him. I raced into a 5-0 lead finishing every leg under 17 darts. Erwin then won 2 legs and I wrapped the game up in 16 darts for a 6-2 win.

I was pleased with this win and it set me up for a match with Andy Hamilton.

Myself and Andy managed to miss the first 5 darts each at the 25/bull segments and we could not believe it. On the 6th attempt Andy hit the bull and won the off. He set off with 180,180 and I set off 180,140 so despite not being able to hit the 25 we hit 11 consecutive darts in the treble 20 – strange game.

Andy missed the 9 dart leg and I won it in 12 darts. Andy then through some good darts for the next 4 legs and went 4-1 up. Each leg I was left on scores between 40 – 64 so I was not a million miles away. I took the 6th leg in 14 darts and left 40 in the last leg before Andy hit double 10 for the match.

None of the Yorkshire boys did any good on Sunday  Darren and I had a steady drive back to Munich.
