Unicorn Darts Youth Academy:

Week 8 at the Academy was the Outshot Clinic with Conner Bevis shining in the 261 section winning all his games in an average of 11 darts per leg. Adam Major had the single fastest leg, out in 8 and Dan Read the highest finish of 104. Karl Brooks topped group A of the 201 section, the impressive Jamie Gentleman in 8 darts recorded the fastest leg and Ray Lockington again had the best check-out with 70. Group B was headed by Sam Ellis; Luke Goddard had the fastest leg in 10 darts and Samantha Pike the best finish.

 Harriet Raynsford (right) finished top of Group C with Rhys Collins checking out on 53 and Oli Burgess having the shortest leg in an excellent 8 darts.

The Ladies 101 club was equally as competitive as Mel Oakley and Christine Pike tied for the most wins. Terri Newman’s fine 5 dart leg was the fastest game and with 51, Danielle Hopper’s had the best out shot.

In the Juniors Out shot clinic, captain Connor Samways and Jamie Tarrant had an excellent night while Shane Reidy continues to impress with his attitude.

In the girls singles Ellie May came top closely followed by Charlotte Raynsford and Sian Monk. 

 

 Unicorn Darts Youth Academy

It was another packed Academy last week and the addition of another new member Dan Miller has further increased the quality and competition within the Mens section. The A group 501 produced some quality darts, Conner Bevis was 100% with six wins, Adam Major had the fastest leg (17), Sean White most tons with  13 and Dan Read had the highest check out with 110. Miller, Bevis and Major also had good finishes with 99, 96 and 83 respectively and Billy Day ended up second with 4 wins.

In the Men’s Pairs Gavin Howard and Rhys Collins tied with Craig Pike and Stuart Eaton on 5 wins apiece with Josh Lambell and Shane Lock close behind on 4. Top of the Ladies Pairs were Sam Pike and Amanda Paine and in the singles there were good wins for Danielle Hopper and Christine Pike.

Top performers at last week’s Academy sessions were: Ryan Morgans, Sian Monk, Dean Rocker, Ellie May, Conner Samways and Regan Preston who all enjoyed good wins in the junior team game section.

Top scorers in the senior’s 29’s round were Connor Bevis 247, Jamie Gentleman 240 and Billy Day 211.

In the men’s 601 singles Sean White and Conner Bevis hit 21 dart legs while 14 year old Dan Read recorded a 22 darter. Bevis hit a maximum and White had the best check out of 100. Other good out shots came from Gary Thorne (87), Karl Brooks (79) and Bevis (71). Of the 9 mixed pairs Jake Urwin and Sam Pike won all four of their games closely followed by Gavin Howard and Harriet Raynsford who recorded three from three. Urwin and Pike had a pair of very respectable 30 dart 601 legs which included a 70 check out by Samantha. Danielle Hopper and Oli Burgess were two from three, Ben Lock and Urwin hit 140’s, Aimee Edmonds hit the ladies highest score of 129 closely followed by Sam Pike’s 121.

 

 Unicorn Darts Youth Academy.

The first Academy Darts-athlon of the year took place last week with some very encouraging performances especially from within the younger ranks. Sean White was the eventual overall winner on 115 from Dan Read and Conner Bevis who both amassed 107 points. Sam Pike was the nights leading overall lady, a very creditable 10th on 76 points with Harriet Raynsford next at 18th on 57.

Dan Read topped the Highest Score element with 832 followed by Sean White (792). Best Ladies were Mel Oakley (483) then Sam Pike (461). Most Bulls were hit by Sean White (26), Conner Bevis (22), Harriet Raynsford with 10 and Sam Pike 9 were top ladies. Sean White won the Shanghai event with a massive 60, Conner Bevis was 2nd with 39 points. Sam Pike (28) was the leading lady followed by sister Christine and Harriet Raynsford both on 21. Finally the Golf (Round the board on doubles) was jointly won by Shane Lock and Dan Read who both had excellent rounds of 28; Sean White and Karl Brooks were next on 30 while Sam Pike led the way again for the ladies on 49 followed by another good effort from Harriet Raynsford.

A fantastic turnout of over 95% week on week is paying off as sessions are getting under way quicker and performances and standards rising.

The results of the junior darts-athlon are as follows: Tops Score: Girls Amy Thorne 405, 2nd Kelly Paine 376. Boys: Connor Samways: 499, 2nd Jamie Tarrant 493. Bullseyes: Girls: Sian Monk 4, Boys: Ryan Morgans, Adam Lockington and Jamie Tarrant all 5 each. Shanghai: Girls: Amy Thorne 15pts, Sian Monk 12. Boys: Jamie Tarrant 35 pts., Adam Lockington 14.

In the senior 401 round robin Sam Pike won an excellent 5 from 5 and newcomer Scott Burton-Pye returning 3 wins. The round robin 601 team event had Sean White providing the top performance winning 3 from 4 a 17 dart leg and an overall average of nearly 23 per dart. Ray Lockington also won 3 and recorded the highest checkout of 88 while Jamie Gentleman registered the only maximum of the night.

In the other team matches the B match ended on a last leg 1001 team tie breaker with Sam Ellis nailing the winning double. Other top performances came from Billy Day winning 3 straight legs and the fast improving Josh Lambell.

The Ladies match wasn’t quite as close but there were still some good winning performances from Danielle Hopper, Harriet Raynsford, Terri Newman and Becky Chilton.
